Recently, my children and I toured the Ronald McDonald House in our state. We learned how this program provides a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. They believe that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest.
Being a mother of four healthy children, I can not imagine what it must be like for some of the families in the house. So, it was after this tour that our family talked about ways we can help. Knowing how fun it is to dance and move, we immediately thought of hosting a Zumba Fitness class for the families. Last night, we did just that.
For privacy reasons, I only have pictures of my children and me and not the families, but the smiles on the faces showed that for one hour you could dance and forget about the medical challenges your family is facing.
